Barcelona

Here we are, in Barcelona! It´s a blimmin´ chaotic place, not even sure how the place manages to function! It also seems here that people are more willing to subject you to a barrage of incomprehensible Spanish than to speak English. Which is fair enough really, but makes it hard for those of us that don´t know any! The heat over here is unbelievable, more due to the humidity than anything else I think.

It also seems over here that a whole population of people support themselves by dressing up in amazing costumes and making fools out of themseleves. It´s similar to busking I suppose, but somewhat more embarrassing. And seemingly more popular!

What do you mean you don’t know any spanish… under the tutelage of Jono at Rye camp you should have instantly been able to respond with a
“Hola, cómo es usted? mi nombre es David”
However, i do understand how difficult it can be, especially when people are acting so hostile (and hostility is a speciality of mine) and all your there for is a good time… so you could try
“déjeme solo, usted perro del cerdo”
To which someone will normally smile and leave you be!
if that fails then give them one of my famous nth degree eyebrows and proclaim
    “estúpido!”
    Then run!

Hope all is very well and you certianly are partying very hard and enjoying the winter you are missing out on here (go melbourne winter woohoo, but at least there are things to do here when it cold, not like ChCh! Ha)
And you can use the first line of spanish, not the rest… that would end pretty ugly i would imagine!
    ; )

Mmmm…. Some warmth would be nice in Aus… my recently purchased Ikea clock-thermometer has been telling me my bedroom’s averaging about 10 degrees at the moment…

    Gaudi is da bomb! ;)
